Well a week has gone by and I am four runs and a bike ride into my training. I must admit it feels good. I am already overwhelmed by the amount of support I have received from just one email sent and I would like to thank everyone who has supported me so far!
I cannot rest on my laurels though. There is still over £2,000 to raise before April and I am looking for ways get to this total over the next few months. I will keep everyone updated with my plans.
The hardest thing about doing the training is getting the motivation to go out on the runs in the cold, dark and wet when the temptation is to stay indoors and watch TV or surf the net, the latter being more likely in my case! However once you get out there it's immaterial as you constantly remind yourself of the reasons why you're running and the fact that people have sponsored their hard earned money in these tough times for such a good cause. That alone keeps me motivated.
From a personal point of view the new training regime is a great way of losing some of the additional Christmas calories and has kept me off the booze for over a week now so there's certainly some benefits! If not to keep healthy then to save some money, especially now the car insurance, tax and MOT are now due!
I am keeping a log of all of my runs and posting them on my twitter page - @Ed_RNLI_Ldn2012 and you can sponsor me on my Virgin Money page here.
Thanks again everyone and I'll keep you posted on developments!
